Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) Funding Promotes Economic Development in Eastern Ontario

The Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) is designed to promote economic development for companies in eastern Ontario by funding key business development projects. Delivered through regional organizations, the funding of up to $100,000 per year or a maximum of 50% of eligible costs will fund activities such as:

  • Creation of business development plans, expansion plans, marketing strategies
  • Research and development initiatives and research analysis
  • Youth internships and job placement initiatives
  • Marketing projects and trade show attendance
  • Technological enhancements initiatives such as development of customized software or advanced innovative web enhancements
  • Information and communications technology infrastructure projects including telecommunications improvements

Recently, Madawaska Doors, located in Barry Bay, Ontario, was awarded $92,140.84 from EODP. With over 40 years of operations and 35 expert craftsmen employees, the door manufacturer will be using the federal funding to support marketing and production of the company’s new innovative insulation system. The funding will also assist in increasing Madawaska Doors’ workforce through youth internships.

The Eastern Ontario Development Program was set to close on September 31, 2014 but it was announced last week that the funding will be extended for an additional 5 years.
