September Monthly Survey of Manufacturing

StatsCan released September’s Monthly Survey of Manufacturing today. Overall, manufacturing sales decreased 0.6% in the month of September to $45.1 billion. The drop was seen most notably in the transportation equipment industry, which dropped 7.5% in sales, and the motor vehicle industry, which dropped 10.4%.

Provincially, the most significant changes in manufacturing sales looked like this:

Alberta: increased 2.7%
British Columbia: increased 1.5%
New Brunswick: decreased 1.4%
Ontario: decreased 1.6%
Quebec: decreased 2.3%
