Fund Description

Innovative Solutions Canada, a program run under Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), was established to provide support to Canadian innovators seeking to develop innovative solutions and bring them to market. Projects must meet essential outcomes, which are specific to each challenge.

Funding Details

ISC provides funding towards projects that address specific challenges. Phase 1 funding is offered as a grant to a maximum of $150,000, to offset six months of project expenses, and upon successful completion of Phase 1, applicants may receive Phase 2 grant funding of up to $1 million, to offset up to two years of project expenses.

  • Capital costs
  • Patenting costs
  • Material costs
  • Overhead costs
  • Reports and studies
  • Travel costs
  • Contractor/sub-contractor fees

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for ISC, the applicant must:

  • Be for-profit
  • Be incorporated in Canada
  • Have fewer than 500 FTE employees
  • Pay 50%+ of wages to employees primarily working in Canada
  • Have 50%+ of the executive team primarily live in Canada
