Fund Description
The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) is a five-year, $3.5-billion commitment by Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial governments that will support Canada’s agri-food and agri-products sectors through investment in economic development, sustainable innovation, resiliency, and competitiveness.
Funding Details
Cost-share funding will focus on several programs:
- AgriInnovate: Supporting commercialization, demonstration, and adoption of new technologies and processes in the industry.
- AgriScience (Clusters and Projects): Accelerating innovation through supporting pre-commercial research.
- AgriMarketing: Expanding exports in the industry.
- AgriCompetitiveness: Building sector capacity through information transfer.
- AgriDiversity: Assisting underrepresented groups in the sector.
- AgriAssurance: Encouraging public trust in Canadian agri-food products.
- Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP): Assisting conservation and enhancing resiliency.
- -Business Risk Management Programs: Supporting businesses through natural disasters, income decline, other hazards.
Eligible Expenditures
Eligible expenditures include activities which:
- Adopt innovations, tools, best practices and technologies
- Create and commercialize innovative products, practices and processes
- Increase sector collaboration
- Advance sustainable growth
- Expand markets to meet emerging needs
- Reflect diverse communities and increase public trust
- Maintain investments and capacity
Eligibility Requirements
Those who apply must be either farmers, food processors, organizations, other businesses and collaborations, Indigenous and northern communities, or manufacturers of productivity enhancing equipment for food producers and processors.
Program Run
Sustainable CAP is a limited five-year program running from 2023-2028.
