Fund Description
Delivered through Ontario’s Regional Development Program, the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) Stream supports Ontario businesses by funding technology adoption, capital equipment expenditures, and skills development. The program aims to increase job opportunities, attract investments, improve competitiveness, and encourage innovation and collaboration across the province.
Funding Details
AMIC provides up to 15% of eligible project costs, with interest-free loans during the project period of up to $5 million. Loan forgiveness of up to 30% may be available if investment and job targets are met. Non-repayable grants are also available for small, rural companies, or reshoring projects.
Eligible Expenditures
Eligible expenditures include labour, training, and talent costs, permits and fees, facilities and infrastructure, equipment and machinery, materials, and expertise costs.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants to AMIC must be in Ontario or have plans to relocate to Ontario, be in operation for at least three years, and be in the business of advanced manufacturing. In addition, the business must employ a minimum of 10 people, with a commitment to creating five new/upskilled jobs, and a minimum of $500,000 invested in the project.
