We would like to congratulate Rehabtronics, one of NorthSpring Capital’s portfolio companies, for their recent achievements.
Rehabtronics, an Edmonton-based rehabilitative technology company, is one of three finalists in the iGan Partners’ Pitch to Heal competition. The competition, which received over 100 applications, seeks to support innovations in the medical device and digital healthcare sector through $600k in seed funding provided to the winning company.
Founded in 2003 as a spinoff from the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute of the University of Alberta, Rehabtronics aims to improve outcomes for people with central or peripheral nervous system injuries or diseases through neuroscience innovations including hand/arm neuro prosthetic devices and rehabilitation workstations.
Their most recently developed product, Prelivia, uses a proprietary neurostimulation technology called IES to alleviate pressure injuries by restoring blood circulation and tissue oxygenation in patients with reduced mobility. Currently undergoing clinical testing in healthcare facilities, Prelivia has demonstrated positive results in preventing permanent tissue damage in a safe and easy to use format with high rates of patient acceptance. Through the commercialization of the FDA-cleared Prelivia, there is an opportunity to reduce the high costs associated with pressure injuries, in addition to eliminating preventable fatalities.
As the largest medtech VC investor in Canada, iGan Partners provides capital and expertise to scale healthcare innovations, focusing on early-stage companies that improve patient outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs. The seed funding would allow Rehabtronics to continue developing disruptive digital health technologies for the global market.
Congratulations to Rehabtronics on making it to the final three!
