Fund Description
Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) offers the People and Talent Program to attract, retain, and develop Northern Ontario’s workforce. The program offers the Workforce Development Stream and the Indigenous Workforce Development Stream.
Funding Details
Eligible Northern Ontario-based businesses may receive up to 50% of an intern’s salary to a maximum of $35,000/year for the Workforce Development Stream, and 75% of an intern’s salary to a maximum of $52,500/year for the Indigenous Workforce Development Stream.
Eligible Expenditures
Salary and wages for a 52-week internship, with a minimum of 35 hours per week.
Eligibility Requirements
Businesses must be located in Northern Ontario and have been in operation for at least one year, with a minimum of one full-time employee. Activities that displace existing employees are not eligible. Funding approval is required prior to recruitment.
The candidate must be a Canadian resident 18 years of age or older, and either be entering the workforce or a new field, or transitioning to a new career. Interns must be Indigenous in order to qualify for the Indigenous Workforce Development Stream.
