South-Western Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) Funds Economic Development

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund(SWODF) supports projects that create jobs, and encourages innovation and private sector investment by funding economic development activities in south-western Ontario.

If you are planning to invest in new operations, improve competitiveness or productivity, and will be creating new jobs in south-western Ontario, you may be eligible for government funding that can cover up to 15% of your eligible costs (such as capital equipment, labour, materials and supplies), to a maximum of $1.5 million.

Eligible industries for funding include:  advanced manufacturing, life sciences, agri processing (primary and secondary), tourism, information and communication technology, and cultural sectors.

In order to be eligible for SWODF, Ontario businesses must:

  • Employ at least 10 payroll employees,
  • Be committed to creating at least 10 new jobs
  • Be physically located in Southwestern Ontario
  • Invest at least $500,000 in a project.
