CRA Launches Client Portal System for SR&ED Claim Preparation

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) launched a new Client Portal system on October 22 to assist SR&ED claimants with preparing their claims. Available through My Business Account, the Client Portal will allow claimants to access information on processing times and post-submission procedures. In addition, a pre-claim workbook will be provided that can be used to organize the key SR&ED expenditures and write sections of the project descriptions, with access provided to both key program information and SR&ED assistance through pre-claim consultations. An updated version of the Self-Assessment and Learning Tool will also be made available through the portal.

While the portal can serve as an organizational tool to guide both new and returning claimants through the SR&ED policies, it does not support direct completion of applications or resource allocation. To learn more about applying this information to the T661 form and calculating expenditures, reach out to one of our SR&ED experts today for assistance.
