For: Ontario-based manufacturing SMEs looking to innovate, scale up, adopt new technologies, and create jobs

The Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Stream of the Regional Development Program provides funding to manufacturing companies in Ontario, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises. The program aims to support companies in innovation, business growth, job creation, securement of private sector investment, and technology adoption to improve competitiveness.

Applications to the next intake for Regional Development Program: Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness Stream will be accepted until September 26, 2024.

For: SMEs looking to develop solutions to challenges in industrial process heating, AI, and solar panel recycling

Innovative Solutions Canada offers funding to innovators capable of solving specific challenges, with the aim of supporting technologies to market. Recently announced challenges include Zero emissions technologies industrial process heating, Solar panel recycling, and Artificial Intelligence Behaviour Monitoring Solution.

Several deadlines for Innovative Solutions Canada will take place throughout September.

For: Employers in Canada looking to develop solutions to workforce development challenges

The Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream provides funding to companies working on innovative projects which address workforce development challenges, specifically those related to securing skilled talent. The SDF supports the development of a resilient workforce through capacity building, employee retention, and partnership development.

Applications to the Skills Development Fund Training Stream will be accepted until October 4, 2024.

For: Northern Ontario businesses looking to develop products, enhance productivity, and expand

Innovation Initiatives Ontario North has opened applications to Step Forward Funding, which provides funding to companies located in Nipissing, Timiskaming, Parry Sound, and Muskoka for market growth and expansion, product development, and productivity enhancement.

Applications to Step Forward Funding — Innovation Initiatives Ontario North are due by September 30, 2024.

For: Quebec-based companies looking to collaborate with academic institutions to reduce GHG emissions

INNOV-R aims to support collaborative R&D projects which contribute to long-term GHG emissions reductions in Quebec. Projects eligible under the program will consist of at least one academic partner and one non-academic partner, and contribute to a minimum 50,000 tonne reduction in CO2 emissions in the first 10 years following commercialization of the product, technology, or innovation.

Letters of Intent to the upcoming intake for INNOV-R Academic will be accepted until September 15, 2024.

For: Canadian companies looking to hire post-secondary students for work-integrated learning placements

The Talent Opportunities Program provides subsidies to employers hiring post-secondary students for work-integrated learning placements. Through the program, companies can receive between $5000-$7000 per student to cover up to 70% of salary costs.

Applications to the fall term of Talent Opportunities Program are being accepted as of August 1, 2024.
