For: Ontario-based automotive SMEs looking to introduce new processes, tools, and technologies
Through the Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (OAMP), the Government of Ontario provides support to small and medium sized enterprises in the automotive sector in adopting technology to improve process efficiency, support product development, and facilitate lean manufacturing.
Application Round 5 of OAMP will close on May 2, 2024.
For:Ontario-based film or television production companies looking to participate in international market development activities
Through Ontario Creates, the Global Market Development Fund provides support to Ontario companies in participating in international market development activities. With 50% of costs covered, the program aims to facilitate company growth for production companies which are working on developing projects or concepts.
Full applications to the Global Market Development Fund are due by May 7, 2024.
For: Ontario-based automotive companies looking to develop innovative autonomous vehicle technologies
The Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) provides support to the automotive and mobility sector through programming geared towards small and medium sized enterprises. The Connected and Autonomous Vehicle and Smart Mobility stream aims to support projects related to R&D for smart mobility technologies. Priority areas include mass light vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, transportation infrastructure, intelligent transportation systems, and transit-supportive systems and vehicles. Through the program, grants of up to $1 million are available.
Applications to Connected and Autonomous Vehicle and Smart Mobility will be accepted until May 31, 2024.
For: Ontario-based automotive companies looking to develop innovative electric vehicle technologies
The Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) provides support to the automotive and mobility sector through programming geared towards small and medium sizes enterprises. The Electric Vehicle stream of the R&D Partnership Fund supports projects related to R&D in electric vehicles and battery manufacturing technologies in the areas of mass light vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, charging infrastructure, intelligent transportation systems, and transit-supportive systems and vehicles. Through the program, grants of up to $1 million are available.
Applications to the EV stream of the R&ED Partnership Fund will be accepted until May 31, 2024.
For: SMEs looking to improve sustainability in the manufacturing sector
Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing, has launched a call for project proposals which focus on environmental sustainability and achieving net-zero emissions in the manufacturing sector. Priority areas include manufacturing applications of low carbon technologies, high heat generation, CCUS, GHG emissions reduction, smart manufacturing, sustainable materials, and more.
Full funding proposals to NGen’s Sustainable Manufacturing Challenge are due by June 26, 2024.
For: Alberta-based production companies looking to get involved in career development and marketing and research
Through the Alberta Media Fund, the Organization Project Grant supports Alberta-based companies in training, career development, and marketing and research activities. Certain screen-based projects are eligible for funding through the program, with the potential to receive up to 100% of eligible costs covered.
Applications to the Organization Project Grant are due by June 1, 2024.
For: Companies looking to advance Alberta’s agricultural sector
Through Sustainable CAP, RDAR is delivering the Accelerating Agricultural Innovations 2.0 program to support research projects that demonstrate or advance new innovations or adapt existing technologies in the agriculture sector. The program aims to increase competitiveness, profitability, productivity, and sustainability in Alberta agriculture.
The first intake for the Drought Management and Production Resilience and Soil Health and Fertility for Accelerating Agricultural Innovations 2.0 will close on May 15, 2024.
For: Saskatchewan-based startups looking to develop early-stage clean or digital technologies
The Saskatchewan Technology Startup Incentive (STSI) supports the growth of early-stage technology startups based in Saskatchewan through a non-refundable 45% tax credit. The annual program cap has been raised from $3.5 million to $7 million.
Applications for clean technology startups are being accepted to STSI as of April 1, 2024.
