October 2 marks this year’s Manufacturing Day, a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. A collaboration between the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers, and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), Manufacturing Day has been celebrated since 2012 and last year was made an officially recognized day in the United States by President Barack Obama.
Manufacturing Day looks to address misconceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show young people and the public just what manufacturing entails. In this way, the industry looks to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers while also uniting manufacturers who share common concerns and face similar challenges. This year, 2,186 events will be held across North America, including 26 in Canada. Goals for the day include addressing the shortage of skilled labour facing the industry, connecting with potential future generations of manufacturers, managing the public image of manufacturing, and ensuring that the industry continues to prosper.
NorthBridge is proud to celebrate manufacturing day alongside our many clients in manufacturing. Looking to participate in the festivities? Find an event near you!
