The CRA released their average processing times for claims during the months of April 2011 through September 2011. Overall, it’s looking a lot better than it was previously – the total average numbers have all fallen since we last spoke about this at the beginning of this year.
Average Processing Time April 2011-September 2011
Type of Claim | Average Days within CRA’s control | Average Days outside CRA’s control | Total Average Time (days)* |
Refundable claims (submitted within 120 days) |
34 | 27 | 61 |
Refundable claimant-adjusted claims (submitted within 240 days) |
90 | 46 | 137 |
Non-Refundable claims (submitted within 365 days) |
83 | 91 | 175 |
Non-Refundable claimant-adjusted claims (submitted within 365 days) |
132 | 105 | 237 |
All claims | 61 | 46 | 107 |
* The average days within CRA’s control and the average days outside CRA’s control may not add up to the Total Average time due to rounding. |
In January 2011, the total average time (in days) was as follows:
- Refundable claims (submitted within 120 days): 68 days (currently 61 days)
- Refundable claimant-adjusted claims (submitted within 240 days): 143 days (currently 137 days)
- Non-Refundable claims (submitted within 365 days): 187 days (currently 175 days)
- Non-Refundable claimant-adjusted claims (submitted within 365 days): 271 days (currently 237 days)
- All claims: 118 days (currently 107 days)
In each of these cases, the average fell mostly due to the average number of days that the claim was in the CRA’s control.
